Getting older.
Staying dangerous.

I'm 38. Black belt, 15 years on the mats, two wrecked MCLs — and at the end of August I'm competing again. This is the working system for refusing to age out, documented in public.

The Morning Crew

Not a course.
A standard.

Two sessions a week. Logged. Witnessed. Not five — two. You can defend a floor; you can't defend a peak. The Crew exists to make sure your floor never breaks.

The LogPost every session. Streaks visible. The leaderboard measures consistency — never performance.
Monday"Week posted" — declare your two in front of the crew.
Friday"Made it" — what actually happened. Wins and misses both count.

Who's asking you to do this

I'm Zac.

I'm 38. First-degree black belt, about 15 years in — trained in more rooms than I can count, coach on the mats, and I run companies the rest of the day. Both my MCLs are wrecked, my bloodwork is perfect, and that gap is what this whole thing is about.

I used to train three, four times a day. Now I get one, and I've had to learn what optimal actually means when you have a business, a family, and mileage. That recalibration — training smarter instead of just harder — is the system I document here.

At the end of August I step back onto a competition mat. Everything I do to get there — the rehab, the training, the honest failures — goes in the Sunday letter. I'm not here for everybody. I'm here to help whoever wants to be helped.

The mats don't
card you.

Sixty seconds. See where you actually stand — and what's quietly slipping.

Your birth year
is not your age.

Two guys, both 45. One grunts getting off the floor. One rolled six rounds this morning. Same year on the license — completely different age in the body.

Now do something
with it.

Every Sunday I send The Longevity Roll — 3 minutes on exactly this: training, recovery, and staying dangerous as the years stack. Written by a 38-year-old black belt rebuilding for competition, not a 25-year-old with a ring light.
